ACES: Information for Players

Format / Rules

  • Each event is one round of 18 holes, appropriate for amateur play (for instance short tees where applicable).
  • As these are amateur events, PDGA Pro’s are welcome to play (earn points) for their club however their score will be handicapped to a 900 player rating. Ie: if a 960 player participates their handicap will be six strokes. Handicapped players are not eligible to win the amateur prize packages.
  • Entry fees commonly fixed at $10; Registration: 9:00 a.m.; 10:00 a.m. Tee. (Ithaca 2007, Registration 12:00 p.m)
  • Players are intended to be members in good standing, players may not ‘switch teams’ during the series.
  • Top amateur competitors from each club will receive a prize package at the event provided by the host club. If a member of a club has won twice, the next best club member wins the prize. All prize packages will be merchandise, not cash.
  • Points are based on the number of competitors in the event with a base point awarded per player beaten (ie if you finish ahead of 10 players – you earn 10 base points.
  • Base points are worth double for all events other than your host club event; playing at your home event earns single points. Women and juniors (under 19) points factor double (4x away, 2x home).
  • The series will tabulate and award overall series prizes for the following categories:  Most Valuable Player - the player who accumulates the most points.   Most Valuable Club Player - the player who accumulates the most points for their club and is not the overall MVP, Most Valuable Woman Player - female competitor with the most series points, Most Valuable Junior Player - junior competitor with the most series points.  ACES Spirit Award - Each club will nominate a series participant for this award, the selection of which is the responsibility of the series organizers.  A player must compete in at least 2 series events to be considered for these prizes.  Final Series Awards will be made at the CNY Championships event.
  • Win a Basket/ Support a Charity! A $2 per throw, 3 for $5 CTP contest will be held at each event with the winners being recorded and given the chance to throw off for a basket at the finals. If the qualifier is unable to be present at the finals, they forfeit their chance to win the basket.
  • Playing in two or more events earns the club member a series disc with logo.
  • If necessary, the ACES final event will be held as an ‘event within an event’ using the Central NY Championships with the following qualifiers:
    • Only those who have played in 2 or more ACES events may have their rounds count towards additional club points
    • The first tournament round of the day for those who qualify will be tabulated similar to the series events
    • Points earned in this fashion will not count towards the series overall prizes mentioned above, but will only be utilized to determine the final club finishes.
    • No point factor (x2) for the final event. All points single (2x for women and juniors)
    • For this event to be held it must be statistically possible for the overall winner to be determined, if this is not statistically possible - this final points event will not be held.
  • At the end of the series, cash and awards will be made to the clubs from the proceeds generated via the series in the following fashion:
Winning Club (most series points) - 50% of proceeds
Second Place Club       - 30% of proceeds
Third Place Club        - 20% of proceeds
Fourth Place Club       - Determines charity for proceeds from CTP

Cash winnings are to be used for course/club improvements, not general operating expense.  Use of funds is to be easily communicated to the     players and where possible, permanent signage noting the contribution of the ACES series is requested.
  • Any disputes or issues resulting from these rules are to be brought forward to your club president, resolution is the collective responsibility of series organizers.
